Well said Gary! Why shout from the soapbox (paying sick money to boot) and not getting anything other than “hopeful brand recognition”. Put out a commercial that says anyone who tweets the word “StarbucksRules” gets a DM with a coupon code for a free latte.

Seriously that way you know who they are, send them the DM have them fill out the little Name, Email, Age Range, Male/Female, How often do you Starbuck? AND VOILA golden ticket. Find your passionate tribalfolk, and reward them, they will tweet to end for you. (And Facebook your good name!)

I recorded this little video on my iPhone driving home from Salt Lake (don’t worry, I keep my eyes on the road) and in it I ask, “What will you do today that you will proud of 20 years from now?”  Life is all about the “Memorable Moments”, make some TODAY!

Being an AVID Facebooker, I have wondered what is the difference between Facebook Pages (where you can ‘Become a Fan’) and Facebook Groups (that you ‘Join this Group’) after searching around online this is what I found that made sense to me, and allowed me to decide on a Facebook Page for my business presence on Facebook: QuestioningSuccess.

Facebook allows for 2 networking tools:

1. Creating/ joining a Facebook group;
2. Creating/ joining a Facebook fan page.

While the major differences become evident only after you try out.  I have created several groups and a couple pages and here is what the real difference comes down to…

First and foremost the 2 major differences include:

1. Unlike groups, fan pages are visible to unregistered people and are thus indexed (important for reputaion management, for example);
2. Unlike pages, groups allow to send out “bulk invite” (you can easily invite all your friends to join the group while with pages you will be forced to drop some invites manually). Groups are thus better for viral marketing, meaning that any group member can also send bulk invites to the friends of his.

Now let’s go into some details:

To conclude:

• Pages are generally better for a long-term relationships with your fans, readers or customers;
• Groups are generally better for hosting a (quick) active discussion and attracting quick attention.
